Prior to co-founding the Strategy Exchange,  James served as Group M&A Director for Thomas Cook plc, and as Group Strategy Director at MyTravel Group plc.  He was also CEO and Chairman of Sale Sharks, and a director of Premier Rugby Limited.  He was NED at Old English Inns plc and at Genesis Restaurants, and a director at independent investment bank Rickitt Mitchell & Partners. He’s led corporate deals throughout North America and Europe – over 100 transactions with a combined value in excess of £2.5bn.

James has  developed strategic solutions for businesses across many markets, including tour operating, financial services, cruise, pub retailing, hospitality, food manufacturing, professional sport and insurance.  His focus on the big picture – delivering competitive advantage – is married to a determination to roll up his sleeves and, yes,  tackle the Devil in the Detail.

James is a graduate of the University of London (Middlesex) and a Chartered Accountant.
